John Onyskiw

John is a former Quebecer born, raised and educated in Montreal. He is married to his wife Judee and has three wonderful children and two grandchildren.


He was educated for a career in electronics engineering but as economic and market conditions changed he found himself working with computers. His computer career started as a programmer at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal and later the Royal Bank of Canada. In 1976 an opportunity arose with the Government of Alberta resulting in the family pulling up stakes and moving to Edmonton. It was here that he realized his entrepreneurial spirit and established a computer consulting (IT) business in 1981 that continues to this day.


John was invited and joined the St. Albert Council 4742 of the Knights of Columbus in 1983 where he held many positions and served as Grand Knight twice (1994 – 1996 and 2011 – 12). During his tenures as Grand Knight he implemented several initiatives which still carry on till today. He was selected as Grand Knight of the Year in his last term and was appointed as District Deputy that year where he served as the District Deputy for District #14 for three years. In 2015 John was elected to the State Executive Board as their State Warden where he currently performs the duties of the office.
